Welcome to Saint-Lambert International

Orange Shirt Day 2019

10/4/2019

Picture
Friday, October 4th marked Saint-Lambert International High School’s fifth annual observance of Orange Shirt Day, a Canada-wide commemoration event for the victims and survivors of Indigenous Residential Schools.

In order to create awareness and support for the event, as well as provide our students and staff with an opportunity to engage meaningfully with their own acts of Reconciliation, we held an Orange Shirt Day assembly Wednesday. We were fortunate to have Nakuset, the Executive Director of the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal and herself a survivor of the 60s Scoop, as our invited guest speaker.

For the past couple of weeks, students and staff members at Saint-Lambert International have been learning about Canada’s distressful legacy of residential schools. Our school's participation in Orange Shirt Day represents a first step in recognition of the experiences of survivors and our collective commitment to truth and reconciliation.

Today, SLI wore orange for the over 150 000 victims and survivors of Residential Schools.
