Learning from Learners
On November 22nd, a group of foreign officers from 14 different countries visited SLI. These officers are learning English as a Second Language as part of the Canadian Military Training and Cooperation Program. Their intent was to put in use their newly acquired language skills to inform our grade 7 students about their respective homelands. Officers from Jordan, Nepal, Georgia, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Colombia, Namibia, Indonesia, Chile, Philippines, Mexico, Ukraine, China and South Korea taught our students about the culture, geography and history of their native country as part of a cultural exchange embedded within their language-learning journey. Much learning was done by all.
